This printed Orthodox icon of Christ the Teacher presents Jesus Christ in a traditional Byzantine iconographic form, with His right hand raised in blessing and the Holy Gospel held open in His left hand. The image is reproduced with a high-quality glossy finish and a luminous gold-leaf background, creating a radiant and reverent presentation of Christ.
The icon is mounted on a lightweight 6 mm MDF panel, making it easy to handle and display. A metal hanging hook is securely fitted to the back, so the icon arrives ready for wall display in a home prayer corner, bedroom, living space, or other place of devotion.
Iconography and Symbolism
Christ is shown frontally with the cruciform halo, which distinguishes Him in Orthodox iconography. Within the arms of the halo are the Greek letters Ο ΩΝ, meaning “The One Who Is,” referring to the divine name revealed to Moses. The Greek letters IC XC beside the halo are the traditional abbreviation for Jesus Christ.
Christ raises His right hand in a traditional gesture of blessing while holding the open Gospel in His left hand. The open Gospel is particularly associated with the Christ the Teacher form of the Pantocrator icon, emphasizing Christ as the divine Teacher and source of the Gospel message.
The image shown here features Christ wearing the traditional red tunic and blue outer garment. The luminous gold-leaf background enhances the sacred character of the image and recalls the radiant backgrounds traditionally associated with Byzantine and Orthodox icons.
