The Our Lady of Guadalupe Icon depicts the Virgin Mary as she appeared in 1531 to Saint Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City. The miraculous image imprinted on his tilma became one of the most beloved and recognized Marian images in the Catholic world, symbolizing compassion, protection, and unity.

In the image, the Virgin Mary is clothed with the sun, standing on the crescent moon, and surrounded by rays of heavenly light. She wears a mantle of stars and is held aloft by an angel.
