Saint Pantaleon

This hand-painted Orthodox icon depicts Saint Pantaleon the Great Martyr and Healer (also known as Panteleimon, Panteleimonas, Panteleimonos). Born in Nicomedia in the 3rd century, he was a physician who dedicated his skills to healing the sick freely in the name of Christ. After confessing his faith during the persecutions of Emperor Diocletian, he was martyred and glorified as one of the Holy Unmercenary Healers. In iconography, he is often shown holding a cross and a medicine box, symbolizing his healing ministry.
