Iconography and Symbolism
The Saint Paraskevi Icon (Greek: Ἁγία Παρασκευή) depicts one of the most beloved female martyrs of the early Church. She is often shown holding a cross, symbolizing her martyrdom, and sometimes a small vessel, referring to her healing miracles.

Saint Paraskevi dedicated her life to Christ from a young age and fearlessly preached the Gospel. She suffered greatly for her faith but remained steadfast. According to tradition, she received the gift of healing, especially of eye diseases, which is why many faithful turn to her in prayer for physical and spiritual sight.

Her name, meaning “Preparation” (the day before the Sabbath), connects her to a life of readiness, devotion, and spiritual vigilance. The gold background reflects her holiness and the divine grace that works through her intercession.
