Iconography & Symbolism
The icon depicts the Theotokos Paramythia (Our Lady of Consolation). The Virgin gently restrains Christ’s hand as He blesses, symbolizing her intercession and His mercy. Above her head are the letters MP ΘΥ (Mother of God); beside Christ appear IC XC (Jesus Christ); His halo bears Ω Ο Ν (He Who Is), affirming His divinity.
