St Demetrios Icon

This hand-painted Orthodox icon depicts Saint Demetrios the Great Martyr (also known as Demetrius, Dimitrios, Dimitri, Mitrofanis), the patron saint of Thessaloniki and one of the most revered soldier-martyrs of the Church. A 4th-century Roman officer, he openly confessed his Christian faith and was martyred under Emperor Maximian. His relics exude myrrh, and countless miracles of healing and deliverance are attributed to his intercession.
