This Orthodox icon of Christ Pantocrator presents Christ in a frontal composition, holding the Gospel and raising His right hand in blessing. The title Pantocrator, traditionally understood as “Almighty” or “Ruler of All,” expresses Christ’s divine authority and sovereignty.
The icon is painted with egg tempera on a piece of aged wood carefully selected by the iconographer. The wood is over 100 years old and retains its natural marks, variations, and aged character, giving the panel a distinctive presence.
23K gold leaf and gilding enrich the halo and background, creating the luminous quality traditionally associated with sacred iconography. The artist-developed aged-look technique works together with the naturally aged wood to give the icon the appearance and character of an old devotional work while remaining a newly created icon.
