This printed Orthodox icon of Panagia Kykkotissa (Our Lady of Kykkos) presents the Mother of God holding Christ Child in the distinctive Kykkotissa iconographic tradition. Panagia Kykkotissa, also known as Our Lady of Kykkos, is the celebrated icon of the Mother of God kept at the Holy Monastery of Kykkos in Cyprus. The monastery was established in the late 11th century and the icon has become closely associated with the spiritual heritage of Kykkos.

According to Orthodox tradition, the original Kykkotissa icon was brought to Cyprus from Constantinople and became the treasured icon of Kykkos Monastery. The original remains covered and is rarely uncovered, while numerous faithful reproductions have spread the iconographic image throughout the Orthodox world.
