This icon of the Theophany is silkscreen printed on gessoed cotton canvas, mounted on a solid carved wood board, and handmade in Greece. The inscriptions and ornamental details are hand-painted, and gold leaf is applied by hand to the background. The panel is finished with a protective varnish and arrives with a certificate of authenticity, gift-ready for a home icon corner.
Iconography and Symbolism
This is the one of the few icons showing all three Persons of God at once. The circle at the top symbolizes the voice of God the Father. The Holy Spirit is represented by the dove descending from Heaven. Jesus stands upright in the Jordan river, standing on the left bank John leans forward to place his hand on Christ’s head. On the righ bank – several angels in cervice to Christ. The tiny male figure in His feet represents the River Jordan.
